Corghi:
driving innovation
since 1954

Corghi was founded in the heart of Emilia in 1954, in Correggio, an area long devoted to mechanics and applied ingenuity. Founded by brothers Erminio and Remo Corghi, the company emerged after the Second World War as an electromechanical business focused on developing concrete and innovative solutions, laying the foundations from the very beginning for an industrial path that would shape the evolution of wheel service.

From ideas to the future

Already in the 1940s, brothers Erminio and Remo Corghi developed solid technical know-how in the field of electromechanics, working on solutions designed for reliability and practical application. This approach led, in 1954, to the foundation of Corghi Elettromeccanica, a company that built its identity from the outset on functional innovation and manufacturing quality. The brand with the nightingale thus became an expression of technical expertise and industrial vision.

In a country undergoing rapid growth, with the automobile playing an increasingly central role in everyday life, a clear need emerged: to make wheel service more efficient, safer and aligned with the evolution of vehicles. The practices commonly used at the time, based on manual operations and non-specialised equipment, clearly showed their limits. It was in this context that the drive for innovation matured, leading Corghi to redefine industry standards.

1961:
Artiglio and the birth
of Wheel Service

In 1961, Corghi introduced one of the most revolutionary innovations in automotive history: Artiglio, the world’s first traditional tyre changer. An extraordinary insight by Erminio Corghi, born from listening to the real needs of industry professionals, it marked a historic turning point. With Artiglio, for the first time, tyre demounting and mounting were entrusted to the machine rather than human effort.

The patent introduced technical solutions that were unimaginable at the time: the rotating rim clamp, the vertical bead breaker, the pedal control unit that freed the operator’s hands, and the multi-tool head with its distinctive perpendicular operating arm. Success was immediate and overwhelming. In a short time, Artiglio became synonymous with tyre changer, and the Corghi name established itself internationally as an absolute benchmark in the sector.

From Correggio
to the world

From that moment on, Corghi grew without ever losing its connection with its roots. In just a few years, Correggio became a world centre of excellence for equipment dedicated to wheel service: from the local tyre specialist to Formula 1 pit lanes, where precision, reliability and performance allow no compromise. Corghi red became a distinctive sign recognised all over the world.

This evolution never stopped. Tyre changer production became the company’s flagship, supported by the continuous development of new solutions designed to ensure maximum care for the tyre, the only interface between the vehicle and the road. Ergonomics, automation and electronics progressively became part of the company’s DNA, transforming Corghi equipment into increasingly advanced, intuitive and safe systems.

Innovating,
always

Over the decades, Corghi has not simply created machines: it has helped define an entire sector, that of wheel service, anticipating changes in the automotive industry and supporting the technological evolution of tyres, rims and vehicles. Every innovation stems from a deep understanding of the market and the desire to simplify the work of professionals, improving its efficiency and quality.
Today, Corghi is a global brand, synonymous with technical expertise, reliability and continuous innovation. A company that looks to the future with the same passion as in 1961, remaining faithful to a simple and powerful insight: putting technology at the service of people, transforming everyday work into a safer, more advanced and more sustainable experience.
